From what started of little stepping-stones, NHF has grown and evolved into a huge well-known and respected fan base in the duration of its time. So to mark NHF’s first birthday, let’s all reflect shall we? Sit back and let me take you through the milestones and major achievements over this past year that’s made NHF the success that it is today….
October
The month were NHF all began… This was for the sole purpose of providing a Nigel site where fans could basically come together and talk about Nigel. As Kate clearly stated on the day of opening “This message board has been made for one reason and one reason only - to support and dedicate our time to the one and only, Mr. Nigel Harman” and she kept her word! Never have I been part of a site that’s been as Nigel related and as laid back as this one. This place started of with me and Kate running things together and then we shortly asked Helen to become a moderator and thanks to Starr's fantastic graphics contribution, we made her NHF Graphics helper.
November
This was the month where we finally got a domain. Although it was quite stressful setting it up at the time, it was the best thing I did. Not only with www.nigelharmanfansite.co.uk did it look more professional but also it has improved our rankings on all the major search engines a great deal. From the surveys we put out last year, the majority claimed that they found out about this place through online search facilities. As a result, our guest count and membership has increased immensely. We are now officially on the first page of Google. Janie was also made our NHF PR and did an excellent job. To make NHF more known to online Nigel fans, Faye and Sizzling Sarah were promoted to NHF’s promotions team who have been excellent in their advertising and so, our staffing group emerged…
December
Our popularity grew and we reached 300 members before the year was out. That was 300 members in 3 months- amazing. We mourned the death of Dennis but for Nigel it was just the beginning as he took on his new role in Guys and Dolls. His magnificent portrayal of Sky Masterson gave this place a lease of life and provided a common ground for all fans of his to join their love for him in this joyous musical. A new addition to the board was the “Nigel custom Galleries”, cleverly introduced by Kate and avatars provided by members here – thank you. This was where all members could pick an avatar with hundreds to choose from, ranging from his childhood roles straight his latest role in new drama, The Outsiders.
January
This month has probably been our biggest in terms of achievements and boy was it a fantastic start to the year. Janie’s status went from PR to moderator for her outstanding contribution, GIG joined Starr in the graphics team and Ann became our first NHF clipper. Her excessive amount of clips meant that members were fortunate enough to view large amounts of Nigel material here, including coverage that some members here did not previously see. In addition, this month was the start of the “NHF Merchandise” and again, with much gratitude to Ann. The Key rings, dog tags and T-Shirts went down a treat as well as my personal favourite, the letterheads. My promotion ideas for this place escalated as I purchased some Nigel Harman Fansite promotion cards with the much-appreciated help from Starr and Ann for design ideas and tips. One of our most celebratory moments this month and actually overall this year was NHF being recognised by Nigel himself. He became aware of who we were, our sheer support for him and this was down to Janie’s determination to push us to the fore. Thank you – we’ll never forget it.
February
Our first NHF outing took place, which bought together over 20 members from this site to support Nigel in a Saturday night performance of Guys and Dolls. Janie, who orchestrated the outing was the backbone of the event and did an amazing job. Ann kindly designed and supplied the NHF G&D T-shirts and dog tags. It was an enjoyable night and was a great opportunity for NHF’ers to come together and share their common adoration for Nigel. I’m sure all those that went wont be forgetting the stand up ovation at the end in a hurry and neither will the man himself.
March
A key milestone this month was NHF getting its first piece of publicity thanks to Gemsie. Her e-mailed request to Radio 1 for the NHF girls during Nigel’s final performance for Guys and Dolls promoted this place on a broader context. “Nigel Harman Fansite” was read out twice by the wonderful Sarah Cox live on air. That was a very memorable moment indeed. Not long after, Ann was given a well-deserved promotion and made to a moderator.
April
On star pages we went up in the rankings and got 4 stars! As Nigel’s career grew, so did NHF. This was the month were Nigel took on the stage as Kerry Cook in The Exonerated and members here went to support him. Nigel exceeded excellence and wowed us all in this breathtaking story. His excellent portrayal of Kerry was the talking point of this forum for the whole of April as he really came into his own and proved what a versatile actor he truly is.
May
A major expansion to NHF was getting our very own website. Ann created and has maintained a large source of Nigel related information right from his childhood to the present day involving in-depth information regarding Nigel’s past and present roles, his rise to fame as well as various picture galleries. With over 2,000 NHF hits and almost 5,000 direct hits and visitors on a global scale, this Nigel website was a huge success in the making and it is the core of all Nigel information. No other Nigel website is as informative, well maintained and as vast as this one! Simply fantastic.
June
It was a little quiet on the Nigel front this summer but that didn’t stop us talking, making a enlargement to the forum and reaching our targets either! We had over 1,000 hits on the website and a total of 60 members joining in that month! With the Nigel filled autumn ahead of us, board changes were needed to accommodate his roles. An Outsiders and A Caretaker forum was added. The Guys and Dolls forum also returned for his upcoming short stint in December. Due to Heather8 and Roony20’ excellence in fanart, they were appointed as our fanart makers and have since made banner and after banner for our members in their own free time. Much appreciated.
July
With in just nine months of opening we reached our 1,000 members milestone. A massive achievement considering we were in single figures in October. Throughout, the guest count had been high and members were joining regularly which indeed prompted the huge influx of members!
August
Surely the most challenging, rewarding and proudest moment of NHF was when fifteen members raised money for the (BCC) Breast Cancer Concern charity. Led by MissyC, members participated in 951 miles between them individually in the heart of their hometowns. Together, in a month we raised a very respectable £620 pounds. A group effort indeed and thanks to all those that took part and donated, with a special thanks to MissyC for organising an event for one of the most worthy causes in the world. Thank you. With the rise in members, a new mod was needed to keep the board flowing so we appointed Faye as our new moderator. This left a promotions spot open and MissyC applied and gladly took on the role. Both positions well deserved.
September
With almost a year passed and how large NHF had become, not only member wise but taking into account the growth of the board and member deliberation, we decided to expand our staff and that’s exactly what we did. A range of staffing positions was made available to help maintain NHF and keep moderation on a much more specific level. We appointed, Gemsie and Harmans_Hot as fiction moderators, Blondi_boo, Dory, Sparkle and Dennis Bum as the welcoming team and Zebedeezeb as our clipper and so, our staffing team grew to accommodate the board’s needs and maintains it’s sheer quality and so it has.
October
Quite a month, I’d say! Not only did we broke our online record but we’ve also got our very own NHF Newsletter, which was mapped out, planned and completed by the excellent Sparkle. Her enthusiasm and loyalty to her role here has shown great commitment and dedication and we’re very proud to have her part of the team.
NHF has grown and despite all the developments, I think the core of it all really is that the foundations of this site has always been about NIGEL….and that’s how it’s going to remain.
So a year has passed and we have 8 different staffing groups, well over a 1,000 members, money raised for charity, our own website, newsletter, merchandise, publicity, well-earned recognition, and the most ardent fanbase ever! Quite an achievement wouldn’t you say?

Congratulations!! This place is un-believably amazing and has given me a chance to meet so many lovely people and share all my inner Nigelness! Also I have felt ble to share some stressfull times here (my operation and exams) and its helped me through!So I really need to say thanks!! :) From the bottom of my heart!

This message board is by far the Best Nigel site I have signed up to. The foundations have never left and the love all the members and staff have for Nigel is superb. I've joined other sites where Nigel seems to be more in the background but he's definately not in the background on this site.
I want to say Thanks to everyone who keeps me updated with the Nigel news. I know I don't post much :$ but its because I don't get much internet access. But when I do get time here, you're all so friendly and welcoming. There's no groups here like there is on other sites. :) I can really join in and I love that.
I'm hoping to get my own computer to get more access so I can come here more.

This message board is by far the Best Nigel site I have signed up to. The foundations have never left and the love all the members and staff have for Nigel is superb. I've joined other sites where Nigel seems to be more in the background but he's definately not in the background on this site.
I want to say Thanks to everyone who keeps me updated with the Nigel news. I know I don't post much :$ but its because I don't get much internet access. But when I do get time here, you're all so friendly and welcoming. There's no groups here like there is on other sites. :) I can really join in and I love that.
I'm hoping to get my own computer to get more access so I can come here more.

A very happy birthday NHF!! What a year! hasn't it gone fast?
